It’s finally time to print your labels, but you don’t know what materials to use! Not know what you want to print them on is fine. In being your custom label printer we are more than happy to help you decide on which materials would work best for your artwork or its application. To break it down you just have to ask yourself a few simple questions…

First, you have the base material to work with: paper or film. When looks aren’t a deciding factor you can ask yourself; does the label need to be torn, recycled, withstand physical agitation, or meet a regulation of some kind? Then you can move onto a laminate! You don’t need necessarily always need one but if you need to protect from any water or other liquids coming in contact with the label they are usually a great idea! Then again, how the label looks might be your only concern, and we can give suggestions to that as well. We can even send you actual printed examples, or press proofs, on our different materials so you can see how your custom label looks on them all! All in all, not knowing what materials to use on your custom labels and stickers isn’t any fretting matter, we’ll help you get through it with flying colors!

Clarity is everything! It happens occasionally where we get artwork that is usually some flattened .jpeg with so little definition that it starts to look like a checker board. We get great satisfaction out of our label printing, so our initial reaction is that we don’t want to print them… No, because we want to give you the best! You have gone through all the work from coming up with an idea all the way to finding a custom label printer; so why settle for mediocrity? Talk to your graphic designer and be sure to have them give you high resolution artwork, preferably some thing vector based. It makes all the difference in the end, when it comes to getting your own custom labels and stickers.

We love when people request custom die cuts, because it’s an opportunity for us to step up the flashy factor of their custom labels. It’s a subtle yet effective technique of catching your customers’ attention! You have already grabbed them with either your stylish design, comforting color scheme, or maybe even just a fancy font… Then BAM! they notice the actual shape of your custom label or sticker and their admiration is kicked up a notch or two!

We wrote about some tiny moose stickers from Clean Air Compost a while back and about how custom labels can evoke an emotional response. Want to know part of what they did? They used a custom die cut… In the shape of a tiny moose! A completely genuine custom sticker. Ask us what we can do for you and your custom labels.

It really is a great feeling to have your custom label artwork designed and ready to print. Although, as some of you may know you might have one last “quick fix” you’d like to see done. Not a problem! We are always happy to help in any we can. Whether you’d like to change some wording, or perhaps just change some sizing; we digital printers can usually lend a hand.

Here’s the kicker: there are some file formats that we AREN’T able to change! When talking with your graphic designer always make sure to have them give you those handy vector and post script file formats versus those stubborn jpeg and bitmap pictures… just in case. It will be worth it for that last minute strive for perfection! We wouldn’t be able to consider ourselves custom label printers if we weren’t honestly willing to provide you with truly custom labels.

Preach to the Choir. As business owners we spend a lot of time trying to get ‘the heathens’, those that don’t know us and don’t know what we do, to do business with us. If you really want to grow your business, preach to the choir instead. Profile your best customers (the choir): who are they, how did they find you, why do they love doing business with you, why do you love having them as customers? Once you’ve done this, find more just like them! Don’t forget, this group is your choir- they love you. Start by asking them for referrals to folks just like them. They want to help you, you just need to ask, and make it easy for them.

Custom Labels and Stickers- Design Tip #24

Shake it up every once in awhile! I love the days when Google changes up their logo based on a holiday, person’s birthday (Seuss was fun!) or important date in history. They shake it up now and again, and it always gets my attention. Think about doing the same with your custom labels. Change the color or the shape for a holiday release or just to get folks attention.

Custom labels and stickers can take the shake! You probably have a loyal customer base who will enjoy the change. When you make a change to your custom labels, people will do a double take as well. When Pepsi recently changed their logo design, people were talking about it. Yes, talking about a logo for a soda. Maybe you’re not big enough for people to talk about when you change your custom labels, but your die-hard fans will definitely notice and think twice about you and your product. That’s a good thing!

Custom labels and stickers – design tip #25 next time!
